Ben Andrick of Mount Joy Receives Scouting’s Highest Award

Boy Scout Troop 53 of Maytown is honored to announce that Benjamin J. Andrick has received his Eagle Scout Award.
Ben is the son of David and Penny Andrick of 499 Charter Lane, Mount Joy, PA.
The Eagle Court of Honor ceremony was held at the Christ Church U.C.C. on South Market Street in Elizabethtown on Sunday, July 27, 2008, with over 50 Boy Scouts, family and friends in attendance.
Ben was joined in the Eagle Scout Oath by many of Troops 53’s most recent Eagle Scouts and other Eagle Scouts in attendance.
The Award was pinned by his parents and Scoutmaster Mark Rorabaugh presented him with an Eagle neckerchief and a commemorative hiking stick with medallions representing all of his scouting ranks and accomplishments.
The formal ceremony was followed by refreshments and socializing.
To obtain the rank of Eagle, a scout must be active in his troop, earn at least 21 merit badges, complete an Eagle Scout project and exhibit the ideals embodied in the Scout Oath and Law.
Only 2% of all boys who enter scouting will obtain the high rank of Eagle. Ben Andrick’s Eagle Scout project consisted of renovating a room at Christ Church to be used as social space and meeting place for the youth group.
The project consisted of painting walls, replacing the carpet, installing bulletin boards, building library shelves, and coordinating the donation of furniture.
